In de Haak Hookstore

A cosy hook,
A wall full with tools,
In a secure place...

"In de haak" is Dutch for something being properly in order : straight, sorted, as it should be.

The Hookstore is where you put your own bike in de haak, with our tools and our hands nearby if you want them.

The In de Haak Hookstore: a vintage bike on a repair stand in front of a pegboard wall of tools
What it means

A bike shop that would rather teach you than charge you.

Most repair shops want your bike for three days and your payment on the way out.
That is a fine business. It is just not the one we are running here...

A bicycle is one of the last machines a person can still fully understand.
Every part is visible and nothing in there needs a software update.

That is the Hookstore. You keep your bike. You learn the skills. And the bike stays out of the scrap heap for another decade, which is the part we actually care about.
Together with you we can make it happen!

Member advantages

What you actually get for your membership.

A hook of your own

Walk in, take a stand, hang your bike at working height. No queue for the one good tool, no kneeling on a wet pavement.

Every tool, already there

Torque wrenches, cone spanners, chain whips, a truing stand, a bottom bracket set. The tools you would never buy for one job.

Someone who knows

Our mechanics are in the room. Ask before you break it. We will show you the move once and then let you do it.

Parts at our price

Members buy cables, chains, tyres and bearings at what we pay. We make our living on the rentals, not on your brake pads.

The bin of good used parts

Forty years of Koga Miyata teardown lives in our crates. Members dig through it first, and often leave paying nothing.

People to fix bikes with

Thursday evenings the shop stays open late. Bring the bike, bring the problem. Someone has had it before.

Our members can sell their bikes back to the Shop, when they do not need anymore.
